It’s time for a follow-up to The Social Dilemma, a 2020 Netflix docudrama directed and written by Jeff Orlowski and others, and narrated by Tristan Harris. It explores the escalation of damage that social media has caused society by focusing on the exploitation of its users for financial gain. We created a SWPS Series on The Social Dilemma which addresses both the issues and possible solutions to counterbalance Al/digital technology’s power with a focus on surveillance capitalism, data mining, design that nurtures addiction, its use in politics, and its effect on the mental health of adolescents.
